Take The Plunge In the Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series!
The Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series returns this summer with six swimming events around New Zealand that present challenges which are attainable for people of all shapes, sizes and abilities.
The series starts with the Harbour Crossing, Auckland on Saturday 21 November, then heading north for the newest event in the series, the Russell-Paihia event, followed by the Capital Classic in Wellington, the Corsair Classic in Christchurch, the Sand to Surf in Mt Maunganui and finishing with King of the Bays, North Shore City on Saturday 17 April.
The Sovereign Harbour Crossing is a 2.8km swim across Auckland’s Harbour from Bayswater on the North Shore to Viaduct Harbour.
All the events except Sovereign Harbour Crossing include a variety of distances – 300m Tag Team Relay, 750m distance or 2.8km challenge and the 200m Sovereign OceanKids for children under 10 years.
Sovereign Marketing Communications Manager Consumer, Richard Allen says that with the different distance options, the events are for all New Zealanders.

This year the country has had a wake-up call by being named the third fattest nation in the developed world and it is therefore timely to encourage people to make a real commitment to improving their lifestyles. The Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series is a great way for everyday New Zealanders to get active, set themselves personal goals and compete in a low impact sport alongside elite swimmers who are at the pinnacle of their careers.”
Keen swimmers wanting the ultimate challenge can enter all six events in the Sovereign New Zealand Ocean Swim Series and swim the country.
